YABANS RESTAURANT

Yabans Restaurant is a Restaurant that opened officially in September 2015.Our menu mainly consists of a variety of Nigerian Dishes.

"Cooking has always been my passion, so going into the food business was not a one day thing, although the idea first came to me on a very special Saturday when I went to 805 in London. I went with my dad to get some food, and he asked me "don't you think you should start a business like this?" And I told him it was a brilliant idea.
That's how I started. Came back to Nigeria, started my research, knew my competitors, knew what I was getting into, and now I'm part of the game.
The major challenge I'm facing so far is keeping to time, when serving customers orders. This is because our food is freshly made on customers request or orders, we don't make food to keep. That is why we always advice customers to place their orders before heading to the restaurant  to avoid delay". - -  - Yabanz
Yabans Restaurant stands out because of the quality of food we serve and the fact that it is freshly made. It's different from everyone else and local. It's more of the advanced "Mama put". That has always been the target.

By the Grace of God, in 5 years Yabans should have at least two other branches around the city. Don't know where yet but with time, will figure that out.

SOWA: Abuja Based Upcoming Artiste.

My name is Oluwasowapo Alonge known as Sowa. I am an Abuja based independent rapper, singer, producer and artiste. Painting pictures for the ears and making music for the mind. I've been making music since the 10th grade but music has always been a part of my life. My family never fail to remind me that as a baby I would hum along to tunes on tv and as a little kid I would always compose my own special songs.

My influences vary between genres but I am a firm believer in the evolution and growth of music through time. So although I have great love and respect for old music, my main inspirations come from the newer sounds.

Making music is a passion of mine and something I love doing. I believe if music is not your passion then there is really no reason for you to be making it. I also think that is the problem that the music scene is facing today especially in Nigeria. We have a lot of "artists" doing music because that is what is popular to do. So above all I'm most especially a music lover and I appreciate the beauty in all genres.

I'm a multi-genre artist ranging from rap, to rnb, to trap and Afro hop. My style of music on the other hand can be encapsulated in one word "me". I feel music should be an honest expression of ones life, ones experience and ones self. There are too many artists out there lying to people and serving them a false lifestyle. All I want to do is share my life, my views, my thoughts and myself through my music. I'm not about flexing. So my dream and hope is to just be one the best doing it right.
Due to the emphasis I put on delivery and packaging, my music may sometimes come off as mainstream, but if you listen close you will hear that I am talking real truths. I believe that there is this mental divide between conscious music and  mainstream music. Where one has to sound a certain way to be talking real truths. I don't believe in that. So in my music I try to bridge that divide by giving you the conscious music with the mainstream delivery. Not to say that all my music is conscious because sometimes I do get in the studio and just have a good time, but most times my music is like candy you need to look under the wrapper.

I have got two projects coming out this year for you to look out for. The first being my debut mixtape titled Road to Balmain. It is titled this because it is my first step on the road to riches. I have been working on it since summer of last year and it promises to be an epic experience. My next project is a collaborative ep with a fast rising producer based in the UK and that one is bringing all the bangers. This is just the beginning of my musical career and there is a lot more to go.

Beyond the music I am also the visionary behind #TheCapitalMovement which is a movement supporting the best and brightest of Abuja talents. If you know me you will know that I love my city and I'm proud of what is coming out from its new generation of artists. I believe we should all have that hometown love and pride. We should believe and support in our homegrown talent, because the Capital is great.

A FRIEND INDEED.

By Khalifa Baba-Ahmed       Published on June 2015 Issue 01 of Capital City Magazine

 I sit alone and meditate
As days go by, i check the date
For being so human i need a mate.
I hear all sorts of voices, but none i can relate
I seem to grow in desperation
Of the one to hear my cries
 I tend to lose concentration
That’s why tears fill my eyes.
Bold enough to plant a seed
I find you grow like an extinct breed
With features of just what i need
I hope you'll be my friend indeed.

You help me choose the right from wrong
Ignore my flaws you know am young.
I remember life as a personal test
You make me feel like am the best
Am like a book you love to read
When am with you i smell no greed
stand by me when am in need
Am glad i found a friend indeed.

APUDI NGO

APUDI is an abbreviation meaning "Al-Mustapha Peace Unity and Development Initiative"

In Nigeria, today, there are danger signals on the horizon. The political terrain is getting more and more muddled with the future of the youths in total jeopardy. The country is virtually sitting on time bomb. Major Hamza Al-Mustapha’s NGO, APUDI, is therefore determined to defuse the time bomb through the gospels of brotherhood, peace and unity. It is only when peace reigns supreme in the country that we can have unimpeded socio-economic development.
For now, little is being done by the governments in the federation, whether at the Federal, State or Local Government level, to spread prosperity to the nooks and crannies of the country. The APUDI message is to embark on this process, however modestly, and change the plight of the poor and deprived people so as to provide them with some marketable skills, new consciousness and patriotism. This is the rationale for the production and distribution of the Training Manual. It contains the new vision for Nigeria, where both the leaders and the led will play more significant roles so as to impact the society positively.

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, through APUDI, is determined to transmit this new consciousness in Nigerians with the objectives of renewing their faith in their country and imbuing them with patriotism so that they become their brothers’ keepers. People with such vision are rare on our shores. The few that emerge should therefore be massively supported so that together we move our great country forward on the path of sustained growth and development.

SAVING THE NAIRA AND PROTECTING NIGERIA'S ECOCNOMY By Khalifa Baba-Ahmed

The debate about the ongoing economic crisis in Nigeria is often attributed to the question; "who's fault is it"?. Of course we Nigerians always feel the need to blame someone when things don't always happen as they should, I find that quite unfortunate. Due to the economic meltdown Nigeria is facing today, there has been strong arguments about 'Who's fault is it?, Who's responsible for fixing it?, What policies are the CBN, Ministry of Finance and the presidency putting in place to stabilize the value of the naira?'

Barely 9 months since president Muhammadu Buhari's administration began, the value of the Naira has been declining in a free fall. Today, the most popular phrase adopted by sellers and producers in  any business or market is "Dollar don rise oh" as an excuse for unnecessary inflation of prices of goods & services. Despite this high inflation level, average income of the workers still remains the same. This simpy means that there's a relative increase in the cost of living of about 90-95% of Nigerian citizens due to the Naira to Dollar ratio, and also shows instability in other economic indicators. The majority being affected by this economic meltdown feel the need to ask "who is to blame?"

The foundation of the new administrations manifesto is to empower the poor, and create jobs for the larger population especially among Nigeria's unemployed citizens. For the opposition, the current state of the Nigerian economy is aiding their opposition strategies to throw criticisms at the current administration. This is a clear indication that Nigerian democratic system is working.

Current statistics of macro economic indicators reveal low  output /domestic consumption, increased inflation rate and a threatening increase in unemployment rate. Economic growth in Nigeria needs a model that will synchronize all the macroeconomic indicators, which will in turn stabilize the economy, and develop the country in the long-run. Unlike many other developing countries, Nigeria solely depends on crude oil for national revenue. This implies that a slight shock in the petroleum sector could cause an earthquake in the country's economy. This is what some refer to as the "The Dutch disease".

Nigeria can reinvest the revenue it generates, mainly from NNPC, Customs, taxes from Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and even foreign capital simultaneously in all the  major sectors that develop the economy. This is a development policy referred to as 'Balanced Growth'. And despite the inaccuracy in the statistics reflecting the revenue generated from oil sector, the past governments selfishly ignored the necessary proportional reinvestment in the major sectors that adds to the  GDP or national output of the country, most especially the agricultural and industrial sectors.

The lack of industrialization has taken away comparative advantage Nigeria could have over other country's that produce, consume and export. In a country with a population of over 160 million people, almost every good consumed is imported, and the globally adopted international trade currency is the US Dollars. With the drastic fall in the price of crude oil per barrel globally, countries like USA with the largest oil reserve, do not need to import crude oil from Nigeria and other oil exporting countries. This forces oil marketers to create artificial fuel scarcity in the country.

At this point you can see how logical the invisible hand of demand and supply of petrol can impact on the value of naira to dollars on its own, with changes in the macroeconomic indicators. What does Nigeria produce that is enough for domestic consumption and enough to export to other countries?
The argument of who is to blame for the current situation of the Nigerian economy will continue. Many blame the past government who saw the crash coming, but used it to enrich themselves and ignored the damage that was about to hit the country's economy.

The proposed 6 trillion Naira annual budget in a country where the larger population suffer absolute poverty, It makes you wonder, what could be the average annual overhead cost of major projects that the huge portion of the budget is sunk into, which are never completed to develop the economy and maximize social welfare. The direct implication of too much money in circulation is inflation. Meaning the prices of goods only keep rising. One important question is: "Is this going to save the naira, or prevent the economy from crashing"?

In my opinion, the expansionary fiscal policy implemented by the Ministry of Finance and the reasonable and/or rational allocation of the national budget to various ministries and parastatals is the main determinant of economic growth to be efficient. The small and medium enterprises (SME's) should be able to get loans from banks with ease. Financial inclusion strategies implemented by the CBN should be firm and effective. Most importantly, the government should support the mass production of Nigerian made products and services for domestic consumption. And encourage the Nigerian citizens to buy Nigerian and save the Naira.
