Introduction
A&A Footwear is a shoe company started by Ahmed Umara and his partner in March 2015. We provide an upscale selection of shoes.
From the very beginning, we were clear that we have to
deliver quality shoes in terms of product quality and upscale design at
affordable price. Keeping it simple is one of our main objectives. Everyone has
their own taste and we found out pretty quick that we need to provide shoes to consumers looking for ‘affordable’
and ‘different’.
As stated by Manish Bhalla (FATbit
founder), “People buy from you when they trust you.”
Challenges faced
One of our biggest challenges is to
have a shoe line for a wide range of customers while still keeping it simple.
We interacted with our customers and we found out
that your customers will give you the best ideas. Listening to what they want
and the issues they have is the best way to consistently improve your product
and bring in more sales.
One of the challenges we faced and
are still facing is the condition of the environment. With high degrees of stress and uncertainty,
a lot of entrepreneurs do not have appropriate means and support from the
government and individuals for them to be able to be unique and stand out.
We believe the future of this
country is to have home grown business minded people that can represent, both
at home and internationally, and help with the economy of the country.
We both have previously ventured into different types of
businesses trying as much as possible not to repeat our mistakes but to learn
from them and create a brand for everyone.
Where we see ourselves in the next five years
The company’s five-year mission
is to become one of the leading branded shoe designers of simple and affordable
trend-setting footwear. Our long-term vision is to become synonymous with
unique footwear styling and to expand our presence to fashion capitals around
the world.
What
piece of advice would you give to someone starting up?
We have a lot brilliant young entrepreneurs and our advice for them is
to have confidence in yourself and your ability. Always care about what you do
and maintain a passion for what you are trying to do. A very important point we
will like to make is: do your research well on what you want and do not let
anyone tell you it can’t be done, knowing you might get criticized by people (many
of which will be your own friends and family). Lastly, and probably most
importantly, you must be able and willing to work HARD and never
give up.
