EDITOR'S PAGE: Founder/Editor-in-Chief

My name is Khalifa Baba Ahmed, popularly known as Huba. An indigene of Zaria, Kaduna State, I was born on the 15th of September in the late 1980s in Kaduna. My family moved to Abuja when I was 5 years old, where I attended Olumawu Nursery and Primary School in Wuse 2 for my primary education. I then proceeded to Zaria Academy in Shika - Zaria, Kaduna State for my secondary education. I am currently a final year Economics Student at Nile University Abuja.  The fourth of 15 children, I am the proud founder and Editor-in-Chief of Capital City Magazine.

The idea of starting this publication was inspired by several life experiences along with my new found love for photo journalism - telling captivating stories with pictures. More inspiration sprung from my experiences regarding the struggle to become a successful entrepreneur, the most important part of this life experience being my struggle to become an entrepreneur at a fairly early age. At 15, I went into the music and entertainment industry. I started a company called Sound Ballerz Entertainment three years later and began hosting shows and events. I’ve also worked on several other promising projects that involve artistic expression. I have come to understand that creativity is my drive, especially when it comes to expressing myself well enough to capture people's attention. I realized that starting a magazine could provide a platform for other struggling start-ups, upcoming entrepreneurs and talented individuals to tell their stories and showcase themselves and their brands. The great love and admiration I have for the city that has been my home since childhood is also part of my inspiration. I thought of a local magazine as a way to show people the difference between the Abuja they know and the Abuja that I have seen. I find almost everything about Abuja city exciting and enthralling, and so is the content of Capital City Magazine for its unique and exclusive features.

In September last year I decided to share the idea with a few friends and colleagues and, just as I hoped, they embraced the idea. They shared their thoughts and ideas with me, leading to a partnership of 6, 5 men and a lady. We, the partners, decided to take full responsibility for our decisions and actions so we share the tasks among ourselves, share the costs and also the benefits. I reached out to talented young up and coming writers, photographers, models and graphic designers to form a team of content developers for different features. That way we all can use the magazine as a platform for achieving our goals and realizing our dreams. The team that makes up Capital City Magazine is one of a kind, I must say. From the photographers, to the writers, the models, the co-editors and the graphic designer, everyone is fun to work with, talented, hardworking and completely committed to the project. Despite the fact that they are all busy with their own daily jobs and businesses, they never fail to show up for impromptu meetings, briefings and photo shoots. This motivates me to keep going and never give up despite the challenges that I face running a project of this nature, a project that requires time, resources, patience, persistence, perseverance and planning.

I have a simple life equation that I apply to whatever I do to achieve a successful outcome. (P+I+C) = S. P = plan, I = implement, C = control and S = Success. This simple but very important equation has totally changed my life in terms of motivation. It is also the exact equation I am applying onto my work on Capital City Magazine. I hope the content of this magazine will blow your minds for its uniqueness and captivating features. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
