I have always been fascinated by bead making which I was introduced to during my secondary school days. I had always wanted to create them myself.
In 2011, the brand 'bijoux by Mimi' was established with the aim of making simple yet exquisite beaded jewelry. The name bijoux by Mimi was coined from the French word bijou which means a small and eloquently worked piece of jewelry, the plural-bijoux and Mimi is the name I am popularly known.
Beads come in different shapes, sizes and colours that allow the designer to create beautiful pieces whilst adding their personal touch.
For your business to grow, you need to expand your knowledge and so I took mentoring classes from Nonso of @beadsbyoma. If you have seen her work then you know she is good at what she does and I am proud to say I learned from the best. Also, I get inspired from fellow Nigerian designers like Gbenga Dada of Gbengaartsmith, Mojisola Obajimi of Perfect melange , Seun of SeunD's beads and so on.
